README ====== Dataset title: SLU Viltfoderkartor / SLU Forage Availability Maps Creators: Lukas Graf, Inka Bohlin, Per-Ola Hedwall, Jonas Dahlgren, Annika M. Felton Responsible organization: Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Southern Swedish Research Centre See the Researchdata.se catalogue entry for this dataset for complete metadata, including the dataset description, recommended citation, contact information, and information about how to obtain the dataset. Description: This dataset contains the SLU Forage Availability Map / SLU Viltfoderkartor. This dataset contains 12 maps as the output files of the article (link below), distributed as .tif files and shown in the article in Figure 2 (spatial distribution of forage availability on a 1km2 scale) and Figure 3 (spatial distribution in a single moose management area). The data availability statement of the article links to this dataset via a DOI. Maps show the predicted abundance of the pine (Pinus sylvestris), rowan (Sorbus aucuparia), oak (Quercus spp.), willow (Salix caprea), aspen (Populus tremula) and birch (Betula spp.) trees from 10cm height to 4cm DBH across the country using data from the Swedish National Forest Inventory (NFI) and remote sensing datasets. Map products are aggregated to a 1ha and a 1km2 scale and show the average amount of trees estimated per spatial unit and tree species. The models used to create the maps have been developed using data from both temporary and permanent plots from the Swedish NFI collected between 2016 and 2022, which we are not allowed to share. The models fitted to the NFI data and a minimal reproducible example (as the supplementary material to the article) are available via https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.13785126. It contains the average abundance either per hectare or square kilometer per species. .tif files can be used in any GIS - software.
